Canal Park Ice Rink is proudly operated by Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena (FDIA), the non-profit organization that operates the only public indoor ice skating rink in Washington, DC. A portion of revenue from Canal Park Ice Rink will help to support FDIA’s KIDS ON ICE® programming, which provides ice sports instruction accessible to all DC youth, regardless of ability to pay.
FDIA is a place that provides multiple character-building opportunities and participants gain self-esteem while learning respect, fairness, reliability, courtesy, responsibility, sportsmanship, and the value of practice, and perseverance. The overwhelming majority of program participants attend schools in underserved neighborhoods east of the Anacostia River in the District.
